NHS Procurement North East- (prone) is a ‘collaborative procurement organisation’ working in partnership with Stakeholder Trusts in the North East Strategic Health Authority, contracting for goods and services on behalf of the NHS.

The organisation is supported by the Strategic Health Authority and the Prone Board is working towards the development of further Collaborative arrangements in line with the NHS Purchasing and Supply Agency’s strategy for Collaborative Hubs. Prone is supported and works closely with the North East Patches.

Tony Wilson- Head of Procurement

Prone Role: Tony leads the Commodities, Goods and Services team. His role will be the management of the Workplan projects and ensure stakeholder savings delivered. He will be the link between the Stakeholder supply leads offering support and strategic advice.

Background: Tony has been within procurement for over 13 years and with the NHS for over 3 years. He has been with Procurement North East since forming in April 2007 and in his role as lead for the Medical & Surgical team he managed to launch contracts across the North East achieving large savings to the stakeholder trusts. His most notable achievements have been the launch of the 1st Regional Advanced Woundcare Formulary, the PCT Dressings Scheme initiative and the Wigs supply & service contract which has had national recognition.
